Back in 2005, we were faced with a problem that's plagued bearded guys forever: traditional shampoo can dry the skin beneath your beard, and soap leaves sticky residue behind. There was no map when we set out to cook up solutions, so we made our own — and we struck gold with Bluebeards Original Beard Wash. Our original natural beard wash, neither beard shampoo or soap, uses aloe and lime essential oils to cleanse and soften your facial hair and the sensitive skin underneath.
For any beard type. Just apply a small amount and work up a rich lather in the shower daily, the same way you'd apply shampoo to the hair on your head. Work the beard wash through from root to tip, to clean both the hair and pores of dirt, oils, and accumulated beard products. Was constantly itching beard for comfort as skin was so dry and flaky underneath. Surprisingly this stuff got rid of that when all other products had not. Took 2 to 3 applications before I noticed the difference so don't give up after 1 shower/application. It lathers up nicely so not much is needed. I rub it into my beard with a handheld silicone scalp massager that I also purchased from Amazon.

I’m a fan of Bluebeards products and really like both the scent and cleanliness feeling after use. I have sensitive skin and even for its strong scent I dint get any irritation.Really like this product and will keep ordering more. I’d recommend also using the beard repair cream conditioner afterwards because it really helps a ton.Highly recommend.

It is a soapy wash. Bought this after reading the great reviews. Unfortunately, I have been using it for 3 weeks and see no change in my beard or skin. I sadly have not seen the positive results others have :( Won't be buying again

I had terrible flaky skin in my beard. Though it was not formally diagnosed, I believe it was a form of Seborrhea Dermatitis. Nothing worked and after careful online research, I came across this beard wash. I purchased it and it worked after the first time and I have not had any further problems. Thank God! This product has a pleasant smell - it reminds me of a Lime Margarita. And it not harsh on the skin. In addition, I believe that the beard hair itself has become strong. This is the second time I purchased it and I believe you will appreciate it too if you decided to buy it. Good luck!

Works so well on my man's beard! he works outside all day and comes home with a stinky beard. This wash, freshens it up and the hair has gotten softer. He was in the military and used to dry shave, so it was very coarse to start with! I recommend this product! It lasts forever too! We purchased about 6 months ago and just now had to order a new one.

I cant say that this is the end all be all of beard wash. It was given to me as a gift by a friend who knows more about keeping a good looking beard than I do. All I know is that it makes my skin feel better, the beard feel softer and I personally like the lime scent. So this is my second bottle and Im probably hooked for life. Little bottle does go a long way.

I could tell this wasn't gonna work as soon I tried it the first time. First of all, its very expensive for a tiny shampoo bottle. Second, very little lather. Third, I got the sqweaky sound after showering off the suds. It really drys out my face and beard. Somehow, it even made my beard look thinner and weaker. It seems really harsh for something that claims as gentle. Maybe it works for some people, definately didn't work for me. The only thing I like about it is the lime smell.

I'm not sure I understand the hype. I picked this up based on a recommendation from a blog as a good beard wash to help control itching a dryness (both of the skin and beard), but I didn't find it to do either.It doesn't lather very well, and I find it actually makes my beard feel dry and "thin", and pretty frizzy. Plus, it's very expensive for what it is. I didn't really picture how small 4oz was when I bought this, but it's about 1/4 the size of a typical shampoo bottle, or about 1/2 the size of most boutique shampoos.Personally, I've found the best solution for me is Neutrogena T/Gel (extra strength) 2 or 3 days a week to control itching and beard dandruff, followed by Neutrogena Triple Moisture shampoo, which makes my beard soft and not so frizzy. Then the rest of the week, I just use the triple moisture shampoo. BTW, this is also a great shampoo for the rest of your hair, and combined both of these products are still less than half the price/oz of the Bluebeards. I would also recommend a good beard oil (I like Shave Before Grave viking blend).

This didn't lather well for me. I had to use a lot of soap to get it to lather right. It also doesn't travel well. I've wasted a lot of the shampoo from throwing it in my suitcase and flying. Once it does lather it leave a nice clean beard with no residue.

I was majorly skeptical this would alleviate the horrible itch and flaking. I tried a bear oil with luck. This product has helped tremendously. The smell is alright but doesn't linger which I am fine with. Great product, guys I really thought nothing would work and this did it for me.

The product inside of the bottle is great and does the job as advertised, however the bottle and lid don't seal well. I keep it in the shower. For some reason the bottle ended up on the floor of my shower (I live in California so might have been shaken down from a quake) and most of it leaked out. The lid was closed and screwed on tight but it still leaks. If you give the bottle a squeeze with the cap screwed on and lid shut you can hear the air escaping around the threads under the cap. I looked at the same product in my local barbershop and the caps looked to be of similar design, but with the seal still on the tops there I couldn't test them. I may give another bottle a try incase this was a time defect. If this turns out to be the case I'll amend my review.

Got this for my husband and it definitely made his beard feel like the skin beneath and beard hair was better cleaned than soap or shampoo, plus much softer. His beard already has some length to it (a couple inches?), so he's past any skin itching phase but this still made a noticeable difference in softness. He uses this wash with a beard oil (different brand, haven't tried any other Bluebeards products yet) which helps the beard hairs lay down a bit more without adding any stiffening products so it stays soft. Would very much recommend this product!

I couldn't have a beard if not for Bluebeards Original Beard Shampoo. This stuff keeps my beard skin healthy, not itchy, and my beard flake free. A little goes a long way, too.

Unscented. That is why I tried Bluebeards in the first place. It is incredibly hard to shop the internet for hygiene products if you are smell sensitive. It made sense to start with "Unscented". It is....As in "No fragrance or perfumes added". It is not, however, without scent. I'm not sure how to describe it other than to say it wrinkled my nose like some household cleaners do. I tried to hold my breath, but the first dab I used on my 3 month old beard didn't lather. At all. So I poured more. Nope. So I poured a lot more. More than I've ever used on shampoo....even when mullets were a thing. I got a little lather. Enough. But now I had to breathe. No choice. So through the mouth it was. I couldn't rinse it fast enough. Even after enduring all of that, my beard felt dry and coarse and the smell is lingering. Not using it again. Ever.

Before I give my review, let me state that the 4 star rating is strictly because of the price because I wish it was a little cheaper. With that said my preferred rating would be 4.5 stars. I also used this for about a week before reviewing it.I've tried a few other products to no avail because I have very sensitive skin and combination acne to boot, so I was definitely skeptical as to if this product would work for me. I am happy to say that this beard wash really does the trick. It has a decent lather and a little really does go a long way. I have a good sized beard and I only need to use about the size of a nickel to wash it thoroughly. Just after using the wash alone my beard was so much easier to comb through and my skin felt a lot cleaner too without becoming oily or dried out. Although this is unscented my roommate noticed that it has a faint woodsy scent, although it could just be the beard wash mixing with my natural pheromones. I have yet to notice the scent but I like things that smell woodsy so I'm totally fine with that. I got the unscented beard lotion with it and when used together the results for me were even better than just using the wash alone. All in all this is definitely a fantastic product and I highly recommend it to anyone with sensitive skin.
