It's day two of our countdown of costume ideas, and first up is a guy who's better known as the Penguin on the 60s Batman series or as Mickey in Rocky. But here he is in a bearded role.
The Wise Man
This may seem like an obscure reference, but not if you're a child of the 70s and 80s. It's Burgess Meredith as Ammon from the original Clash of The Titans . You may end up telling people all night that you’re not Ben Kenobi or Dumbledore, no you're actually Ammon, the old dude who helps Perseus in his quest to get the Gorgon's head, yadda yadda . But people who get it will get it, and that's what matters. Grab anything that'll pass as a greekish type robe, trim and whiten the beard and you’re good to go. Take it to the next level with a toy owl or one of those decoys that are supposed to keep pigeons away. Paint it silver and no one will mistake you for Obi Wan again (just remember some Beard Wash to get that paint out when you're done).
The Stubble Costume
Short beard? No time to grow a big one? No problem: Old Rick Grimes from the Walking Dead has been wandering around the zombie wasteland of the south for what seems like forever and almost always rocks a nice stubble (he must have found a stash of Beard Saver along the way). Get some beard saver and it won’t itch as it grows out, and next year you can be Virgil. Have a friend or your girl dress as a zombie and you'll make a perfect duo.
The Out There Costume
Dr. Teeth from the Muppet Show and movies. This one's a bit conceptual. I mean, you're not a muppet, obviously, but you might pull it off with green face paint, an orange foam nose, and the right outfit. A striped shirt should be enough for the base, but all the better if you can get your hands on a furry vest and a fuzzy top hat. And of course you need one gold tooth. How else could you be Dr. Teeth without a gold tooth?
