We all know the old saying, "in like a lion, out like a lamb." It's supposed to be about the weather in the month of March: fierce weather at the start that calms by the end. But you can't help but think about the lurking metaphor behind the king of beasts with his majestic mane and the little lamb, that young sheep waiting to be sheered.
There's a contrast between dominant, bearded masculinity and meekness, youth, and, let's face it, shaving. That may be okay for the weather, but it shouldn't be good enough for you. But the metaphor seems to work because a lot of guys do the No Shave November thing, then carry a beard through winter, and think it's time for a "clean" start as the weather warms.
It's a common mistake to think that a beard will make you hot, but those of us in the know realize that beards have so many benefits against heat and the damaging effects of the sun:

So we'd like to extend a challenge to you and your friends: go in like a lion, and come out like one too. Keep the beard. Maintain it. And learn what we know: shaving is for sheep.
